Note : Attempts all five questions. Each question carries 3 marks. Very short answers is required not exceeding 75 words.

  1. What is importance of ‘advice’ as an objective of communication ?
  2. How can the ‘grapevine’ help in raising the morale of the workers ?
  3. What are the limitations of a written communication ?
  4. How does a business letter help in generating goodwill ?
  5. What are the three possible attitudes that a supplier can have towards a complaint ?

(Short Answer Questions)

Note : Attempt any two questions out of the following 3 questions. Each question carries 7.5 marks.

  1. Discuss the psychological barriers to effective communication.
  2. How can oral communication be made effective ?
  3. Distinguish between routine & special reports. Discuss briefly the principles that should be applied in preparing special reports.

(Detailed Answer Questions)

Note : Attempt any three questions out of the following 15 questions. Each question carries 15 marks. Answer is required in detail.

  1. You have received quotations for electrical good from Bombay Electrical Ltd., but you find that their terms their of 7% trade discount & 30 days’ credit are not competitive compared to quotations from others. Write a letter asking them to offer you better terms. Also draft suitable reply.
  2. One of the  12 cases that you have received from your suppliers contains goods that you did not order. Draft a complaint about it quick replacement. Also drafts a replay on behalf of the suppliers.
  3. What is the main purpose of a business letter ? Discuss the essentials of goods business letter.
  4. Distinguish between oral communication & face-to-face communication. What are the advantages of face-to-face communication.

          (b) How can listening improve employee-employer relationship?                    Explain with examples

  1. (a) Discuss what impact future developments in technology might have on business communication.

     (b) Write a report of a committee appointed to make investigation about the                  suitability of a certain building for shifting the branch office from its present                site.
