BCA 1 Semester Computer Fundamental & Office Automation Unit 6 : Microsoft had been developing Excel on the Macintosh platform for several years, at this point where it had developed into a fairly powerful system. A port Excel to Window 2.0 resulted in a fully frictional window Spreadsheet. The more robust Windows 3.x platform s of the early 1990s made it possible for Excel to take market share from Lotus. By the time Lotus responded with usable Window products, Microsoft had started compiling their Office suite. Starting in the mid 1990s continuing though the present, Microsoft Excel has dominated the commercial electronic spreadsheet market. This site is very helpful for all college students. this site provide for students they learn easy our units this site is give you Short notes, Previous paper, Important questions, Modal paper, Mocks paper, Examination paper, Sample paper, Bca Study Material, etc this site is very helpful for you if you satisfy our work then you share also to your friends.

Spreadsheet & Database Package

A spreadsheet is a compute application that simulates a paper accounting Worksheet. It display multiple cells usually in a two-dimensional matrix or grid consisting of rows & columns, Each cell contains alphanumeric text, numeric values or formulate. A formula defines how the content of that cell is to be calculated from the content of any other cell (or combination of cells) each time any cell is updated. Spreadsheets are frequently used for financial information because of their ability to recalculate the entire sheet automatically after a change to a single cell is made.

The database package accommodates business requirements that need advanced web features such as database & custom CGI scripts. This package includes all of the above packages as well as database supports for advertising more that tow hundred products or to offer other advanced services, which require quick access to large amounts of data. Some SQL0 Base software are : ORACLE, MY-SQL, Base, Fox BASE etc.

The Steps to make a MS-PowerPoint Presentation

  1. Select the way to start your presentation. There are many ways to create a presentation, such as Auto content Wizard, Design Templates etc. You have to choose any one of these methods.
  2. Creates the slides Now start to create slides for the presentation. You just need to fill your information (to be presented) into the slides.
  3. Customizing the presentation : Now, you can rearrange the slides, edit them or format them.
  4. Adding illustrations to slides : You can add illustrations ( such as picture) in the slides.
  5. Creating Slide shows : Now, you are ready to present. You can create an on-screen electronic presentation with the required special effects.

Short Note on DMBS

A Database Management System (DBMS) is a software package with computer programs that controls the creation, maintenance & the use of a database. It allows organization to conveniently develop database for various application of data records, files & other database administrators (DBAs) & other specialists. A database is an integrated collection of data records. Files & other database objects. A DBMS allows different user application programs to concurrently access the same database. DBMSs may use a verity of database models, such as the relational model or object model, to conveniently describe & support applications. It typically supports query language that considerably simplify writing database application programs. Database languages also simplify the database organization as well as retrieving & presenting information from it. A DBMS provides facilities for controlling data access, enforcing dat intergirty, managing concurrency control, recovering the database after failures & restoring it from backup files, as well as maintaining database security.

Database servers are dedicated computers that hold the actual database & run only the DBMS & related software. Database servers are usually multiprocessor computers, with generous memory & RAID disk arrays used for stable storage. Hardware database accelerators,  connected to one or more servers via a high-speed channel, are also used in large volume transaction processing environments. DBMSs are found at the heart of most database application. DBMSs may be built around a custom multitasking kernel with built-in networking support, but modern DBMSs typically rely on a standard operating system to provide these functions.

Purpose of Using the Spreadsheet

  1. Speed : Using electronic spreadsheet automates most of the tedious tasks. Which were done manually. This saves a large amount of time & labor. For example, to calculate the sum of large series of number, an electronic spreadsheet may do it within a second.
  2. Automation of Recalculation : If you have implemented some formula on some numbers for some calculations. But, after it, the number have been changed, then the recalculation will be happening automatically. You don’t need to give any command for it.
  3. Creation of Charts : Charts or pictorial representation of data can be easily created.
  4. Reverse Changes : If you have removed some data accidentally from the worksheet, then the undo feature in spreadsheet enables you to restore that data with a simple command ( Ctrl+Z in MS-Exel).
  5. Copy & Reuse your Worksheet : You can make the copy of your worksheet & save it with a new name & you make changes in it if you want. This is particularly useful in situation that suppose you have created a worksheet for salary of employees for January month, now you can make its copy & perform some changes & it will be ready for salary of February month.
  6. Formatting : You can bold, italic, underline etc. in any text on the sheet.
